Qwik Tune QT-11 Reviews 3

This tuner came in a guitar starter pack that was purchased on eBay. I purchased the starter pack for my 11 y/o daughter.

For the price ($14 on MF, free in the package), it's pretty accurate when you get fresh batteries in it. I tested the unit with a accurate tone generator I use in electronics. Each string was within +/- 5hz. It also has a workable pitch pipe for rough tuning the guitar and a 1/4" jack for an electric. 3 LEDs for a quick visual of the tuning. Right arrow means pitch too high, Left arrow too low and Green dot means right on. Unit will turn off automatically in 3 minutes if it doesn't get activated by any sound.

Hard too use with an acoustic guitar because the mic has to be 4-6" inches away to be accurate. I had to stand it on a table at the same height as opening on the accoustic. Background sounds (talking, tv on, etc) will cause the tuner to get confused and not give an accurate reading. The LCD display is hard to see when it is at an angle, wound up using the 3 LEDs more often. All 3 LEDs would flicker when your tuned in sometimes. Response to string played required 1 second to aquire the sound, and 2 seconds to stabilize (total 3 seconds). Even took this long with the tone generator.

Case is mostly silver and made of plastic. Batteries (2 AAA) are installed on the back side. Mic is mounted toward the front, over the pitch pipe button. Large center button (below LCD screen) to turn tuner on and off.

A basic tuner, with basic features. You basically get what you paid for. Better than the cheap pitch pipes you get in most other starter packages.
